So much to see in this magical place -a very beautiful city and packed with tourists.
Grant's first task was to get his bike to a bike shop for some work. The place was at the bottom of the hill and Grant dropped his bike there in the morning and collected it at the end of the day.
Within the walls, the city is a mish mash of cobbled streets that don't seem to have an orderly set out, but nevertheless a very interesting place packed with all types of restaurants, museums, accommodation, a spectacular Cathedral and the most amazing views of the expansive vistas below.
Grant visited some churches and the Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo, doing an audio tour which was very informative. The building started in 1226 and was only completed in the 15th Century.High Gothic in style, this Roman Catholic Cathedral is currently still home to an active Parish community....but it was once home to a Muslim mosque during the invasions by the Moors in the 11th Century.
It is considered to be the magnum opus of High Gothic cathedrals in Spain and its spectacular incorporation of light and the structural achievements of the ambulatory vaults are some of it's highlights. It is built of white limestone which comes from the quarries of Olihuelas nearby.
After a day of sightseeing and walking around this amazing almost surreal place, Grant had some dinner at a local restaurant and enjoyed the balmy evening entertainment.
The evening brought with it an opportunity to watch a colorful Flamenco performance which included dancers of all ages. It was fabulous to see and soak up the atmosphere created by the music and the rhythmic beat of the dancing feet.
A fantastic rest day which included making a contraption to hang from the ceiling to dry the washing above the air conditioner!
Refreshed and revived by culture and beauty....and delicious food, Crazybikeguy is ready to set off to Madrid tomorrow!
Almost halfway!

Oh wow!! Such beautiful architectural structures! Fascinating and amazing they were able to construct such magnificence so very long ago (sans technology!). Must have been really tough back then. We should be especially grateful for the legacies like these left to us to admire, explore and enjoy. What a visual feast, Crazybikeguy!! Muchas gracias, mi amigo. Olé !!
