Today's update!
A tough start to this rainy day on the trail, a tricky situation with a lack of nourishing breakfast and very few places to stop along the way. This is a summer tourist area and the season hasn’t started so a lot of the establishments are being maintained and refurbished or are closed as there’s not enough business to keep them viably open.

With a persistent drizzle and grey skies, the first stop was a quaint little family supermarket in which Julian rejoiced at finding some pastries, replacement batteries for the satellite tracker and an opportunity to adjust rain gear, about 15km into the route for the day.
Rainy conditions do not only bring in the cold and damp feeling but also the extra irritation of being sprayed with water with every car or truck that rides past you on the road, making today a wet and muddy exercise!
The destination was the glorious lightly coloured freshwater lake in the Transdanubian region of Hungary; Lake Balaton, which is very popular with summer tourists. On one shore lies a major wine region with its mountainous terrain and on the flatter southern side one finds many resort towns with rental homes and leisure activity centers, restaurants and pubs.
The scenery was beautiful once they joined the Eurovelo tracks with blooming canola fields, rolling vineyards and spring blooms everywhere.

With a couple of days left in Hungary, the Crazybikeguys have reflected on their experiences in this beautiful part of Eastern Europe – they have marveled at the amount of development happening with many building sites and tall cranes dotting the skyline, the number of factories and the industrialization activity evident wherever they have been but most of all I think they have been touched by the friendliness and the kindness of the people, the willingness to interact and help and the cultural pride and wonderful historical vignettes that have been present in most of the places they have visited.
They were thrilled with their much-improved lodgings for the night –not sharing bathrooms definitely a plus for both of them and they’re both looking forward to some hearty Hungarian dinner and a delicious breakfast tomorrow morning – as well as praying for blue skies and the no rain as the new day dawns.
A pretty good day on the bike albeit a wet one – looking forward to drier days!

For some reason, I cannot connect to your WA channel (tech issue on my side), but I am reading & enjoying your well-written & beautifully presented blogs with exquisite photographs & am closely following your incredible adventures. What you are doing for Logwood is inspiring & extremely special. I'm sure that when the going gets tough, it can be really disheartening - on the body & on the mind... but know that we are cheering you on all the way. You've had many weather challenges to face & spring is taking its time to burst forth, but hopefully as you move further south, it will become warmer & drier & less punishing. Take care, G & J. Sending big hugs…
