Today's Update!
108km with 194m of climbing
2145 km ridden so far!

A flattish route spent mostly on cycle tracks and main roads, with the cycle tracks having speed break gates to go through at regular intervals which broke the rhythm of the day somewhat. After about 15km of this cycle track experience the Crazybikeguys swopped to roadside riding which was better for speed and control on the bike.
Treviso was an amazingly scenic detour stop along the way with kids rowing in the pristine river and lots of noisy ducks along the waterways. A snack of fresh bruschetta with mortadella and tomato was just what was needed before heading northwest again on their way to Padua along converted railway track that has been made into hundreds of kilometers of safe cycleways.
Julian was especially thrilled with his ride today as he found a Geocache which he had been hoping for and obviously had to stop for a photo- only to find that it was an opened dustbin but by then, the joke was on him, so the photo happened anyway!
Making their way into the city of Padua along the waterways Julian spotted a brown animal in the water which they quickly identified as the endangered Eurasian otter and then realized that there was a whole family nearby, as well as some terrapins sunning themselves, ducks, cormorants and other water bird life which was lovely to see.
The Basilica of St Antonio was an incredible place to visit in Padua, as was the central fountain area and the historical buildings along the cobbled streets which always instills a sense of old-world sentiment when visiting towns with such rich cultural heritage.
The battery powered trams were fascinating and integrated into the historical vibe. A fair amount of time was spent at the local eateries watching the locals and taking in the Italian spirit and appreciating the beauty of the surroundings after spending five and a half hours cycling through the Italian countryside.
A fabulous day by all accounts!
