As Grant and Julian tick another country off their list, we want to pause and remind everyone why this ride truly matters.
At its heart, The Two Crazy Bike Guys journey isn’t just about the challenge — it’s about raising awareness and vital funds for Logwood Village, a home for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Mechanical challenges and the half-baked ride to Vienna!
A note from Grant today...

We awake with a good feeling as we were mentally prepared to cycle the 70 to 100km across the border into Austria. Vienna awaited us - but alas, there were other things in play.
Upon loading our panniers onto our bikes and leaving the accommodation for our 9am start, we were greeted with a problem to be solved.

Julian's bike dropper post cable snapped (this is the cable that lifts and lower his saddle - and his saddle was left in the lowered position making cycling pretty impossible for a long distance). Just to smack us even harder, the bolt to take apart the saddle assembly was damaged when we got to Warsaw, so off we went to find a bicycle shop.
Of the eight bicycle repair shops we found, none were open and after 30km of cycling, we finally threw in the towel. Julian couldn't possibly ride the remaining distance to Vienna - and we would have to make another plan.
We got to a town called Laa an der Thaya, and with still no open bike stores to be found, we deciphered the signboards and hopped on board a regional train - although there was a bit of discussion as to where the train would in fact be stopping - if in Vienna at all, but we put our faith in train timetable reading.

Finally in Vienna, we left the train just south of the Danube and immediately headed straight to the mountain bike repair store. Unfortunately the earliest the bike could be repaired was Thursday - which meant staying in Vienna for 3 nights.
The store’s most helpful manager (who took pleasure in telling us that he had ridden the Argus in CapeTown many years ago) agreed to sell us the bits we needed to fix the bike ourselves.
These parts, along with some other necessary maintenance requirements will see us heading to Bratislava along the Danube in the morning.
In the meantime, Julian and I had a wonderful early dinner, some sightseeing and a long walk around the old town of Vienna.
[The food menu for tonight included Apfulstrudel, and of course delicious Vienna Schnitzel]
As a last note, the weather seems quite a lot warmer tonight, so we are cautiously optimistic about the temperature for the next few days.

Don’t forget to share these blogs far and wide!
Every share helps us raise more awareness and support for Logwood Village – the more people who know, the greater the impact we can make together.
Just shows we can't control things. It's how we respond to setbacks that count... and you did just that by fixing J's bike yourself, G. Yet another talent to add to your list!! Must have been frustrating, but glad you guys could enjoy some popular Vienna treats & see some sights. Great that the temps seem to be rising. Enjoy pedalling beside the scenic Danube as you head to beautiful Bratislava. Take care, guys! xx👏🙏🚲🚲👌
